A Random Game, A Happy Win, and a Little Self-Discovery

So here’s the thing… I’m not a spontaneous person. At all.

I like plans. I like knowing what I’m doing and when I’m doing it. I’m not exactly outgoing either, especially when it comes to new people or new situations.

But apparently, if it involves a racket or paddle… I am spontaneous.

Like this one time I had just finished my tennis coaching session. I was tired, sweaty, and already thinking about going home (well, not really. One hour of Tennis is never enough for me, haha). Then my brother reminded me there was another pickleball open play happening that night and asked if I wanted to join. I said yes!

So yeah, I was on the court, randomly paired with someone I’d never met and played with before (Hi, Say!) and we actually won the match! Final score? 14–9.

It made me realize something funny about myself: I’m not into random plans in life, but when it comes to tennis or pickleball? I’m all in. I’ll show up. I’ll join. I’ll play. And I’ll love every minute of it.

Maybe this is a little reminder to myself: I don’t have to be spontaneous everywhere. But it’s nice to know I can be when it counts. Tennis and Pickleball bring out a different side of me. A side that’s confident, flexible, and open to the unknown. Maybe I’m not spontaneous in most areas of life, but when I’ve got a racket or paddle in hand, I feel free to be.

Bye Shoes, Hello New Sports Bag, and a Fun Court Fact

Just finished another pickleball session and I seriously can’t get over how addicted I am to it. I’ve always loved racquet sports… tennis and pickleball especially. There’s something about being on the court that gives me so much energy and happy hormones ^_^

I miss my Babolat Tennis shoes!!!!

I ended up selling my Babolat tennis shoes since the fit wasn’t great. For now, I’ve been using my Nike Court Lite 4 Tennis shoes as they’re light and flat. Still love the look of the Babolat though, so I might get them again once I’m sure of my size.

Did you know you’re ideally not supposed to wear your court shoes outside the court???

Funny thing is, even before I found that out, I was already doing itt without realizing it was the right thing. I just didn’t want my shoes getting muddy, dusty, or having tiny rocks sneak inside because those are the worst to remove! So I’ve always worn my Barbie slides or sneakers on the way to the court, then just change into my court shoes once I’m there. Later on, I learned that, yep, it’s actually a real thing!! Turns out it’s not just about keeping them clean, but also about preserving the grip, support, and overall performance (and avoiding bringing dirt onto the court). I guess my inner clean-freak instincts were totally justified. hehe

So yeah… Keepyour court shoes on the court only. Just switch to slides or regular sneakers before and after games.

Been using my new bag from Nike (ordered from the official site!) and I’ve been loving it. It’s super roomy, though it doesn’t fit my tennis racket. I will just carry my tennis racket separately. Might consider getting a dedicated racket cover soon though.

Also been bringing my big hot pink Hydro Flask. I usually have separate flasks for indoor vs outdoor use, but this one’s become my go-to when I’m playing at the court. It’s huge… basically fits as much water as my two smaller flasks combined.

Anyhoo, there’s open play tomorrow… am thinking of joining! Would be my second one if ever. OK byeee!
